Dave Hoover competed for the cross country and track teams from 1977-1979. It was Hoover and his teammates who helped build the Lewis cross country program into a national contender. Hoover led a group of talented athletes to a 4thplace national finish in 1978, the highest finish in Lewis University history. He was named to the All-American Team in both 1977 and 1978.
Hoover still holds Lewis records in the 800 meter run (1:45.9) and the 1500 meter run (3:50.2). Dave was named to the NAIA All-District Team in 1977, 1978 and 1979.
Since leaving Lewis, Hoover as competed in more than thirty marathons. In 1982 he won the Indianapolis 500 half marathon, a race in which 13,000 runners competed. In 1984 he won the Jamaica International Marathon.
Dave has been in business for the past ten years. He and his partners operated three Body & Sole sporting goods stores in Illinois. At the present time Dave is a manufacturing representative with Himes-Both Sales. Dave is single and lives in Bloomington, Illinois.
